What is Instagram QR Code Generator?

An Instagram profile QR code is an ordinary QR code that contains one web address: https://www.instagram.com/username/. When a phone scans it, the camera offers to open that link. On most phones with Instagram installed it opens the profile in the app; otherwise it opens in the browser. Usernames are 1 to 30 characters long and may contain letters, numbers, periods and underscores, which is why an @handle is enough to build the address.

To find the link yourself, open your profile in the Instagram app, tap Share profile and choose Copy link, or open your profile in a web browser and copy the address bar. Instagram has its own built-in QR code too; this generator gives you a plain one that you can restyle with your brand colours and export as vector SVG for print.

The code stores only the address, never your followers or posts. If you rename your account later, the old address stops working, so settle on your final username before printing large runs.

The username is turned into a QR code locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to Instagram or to a server, and the code contains only the public profile address.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I enter the profile URL or just @username?

Both work. With @username the tool builds https://www.instagram.com/username/ for you; paste the full URL if you prefer to keep a specific link. Avoid long tracking parameters, because every extra character makes the code denser and harder to scan.

Will scanning open the Instagram app?

On most phones where Instagram is installed the link opens in the app; otherwise the profile page opens in the browser. That behaviour is decided by the phone and its settings, not by the code.

How large should I print it?

A useful rule is one tenth of the scanning distance: a code scanned from 1 m should be about 10 cm wide, and a business card code should be at least 2 cm. Keep the quiet-zone margin and test with two or three different phones.

What happens if I change my username?

A static code holds the address itself, so a printed code keeps pointing to the old username after a rename. Generate a new code once your handle is final.
