How does it work?

  1. 1Select the country (dial code) and type your number without worrying about a leading 0, + or 00: they are normalised for you.
  2. 2Write an optional pre-filled message, for example Hello, I would like to book a table.
  3. 3Customise colours, size, margin, module style and error correction. A centre logo is possible, and it automatically raises correction to H.

What is WhatsApp QR Code Generator?

The QR code contains a wa.me link with the shape https://wa.me/<number>?text=<message>. The number is in international format with digits only, and the message is URL-encoded. When a phone scans the code, it opens WhatsApp on a chat with that number, with the message already typed in the box.

The person scanning still has to press send, and the number must be registered on WhatsApp. If the app is not installed, the link opens a web page that explains how to continue. The same format works for WhatsApp Business numbers.

Keep the message reasonably short. Every extra character makes the code denser and harder to scan at small sizes, and very long messages may be shortened by some scanners. The code is static: changing the number or the message means generating a new code.

When should you use it?

  • On shop windows or business cards, so customers can ask a question without saving your number.
  • On product packaging or a leaflet, with a message such as I need help with order number, for after-sales support.
  • On a restaurant or salon poster, to take bookings by chat.
  • In a real estate ad or a car listing, so interested buyers reach the agent directly.
  • On a conference slide or a stand banner, to start a conversation with a speaker or an exhibitor.

This tool runs in your browser. What you type, paste or open is processed on your device by JavaScript and is not sent to our servers, stored or shared. Your data stays on your device.

Your number and message are put into the link inside your browser. Neither is uploaded, and the tool does not open or contact WhatsApp. Anyone who scans the code can see the number, so do not use a private number you would not want to share.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I write the number with a + or a leading 0?

Either way works. Pick your country in the dial-code list and enter the local number; a leading 0, a + or a 00 is removed automatically. That gives the international format that wa.me links require.

Can I set the message that appears in the chat?

Yes. The optional message is added to the link, and WhatsApp shows it pre-filled in the input box. The visitor can edit it before sending, and nothing is sent until they press send.

Does it work with WhatsApp Business?

Yes. WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business numbers both use wa.me links, so the same code works for either. The number must simply be registered on WhatsApp.

Why does the chat not open after scanning?

Check the country code and the number, and make sure the number is registered on WhatsApp. If the phone has no WhatsApp app installed, the link leads to a web page that offers to install it.

Can I see how many people scanned the code?

No. The code is static and links directly to WhatsApp, with no redirect through this site, so there are no scan statistics. If you need counts, keep track of them in your own chat or with a separate offer code.
