What is EAN-13 Barcode Generator?

EAN-13 (European Article Number) is the 13-digit barcode printed on most retail products worldwide. The digits are made of a GS1 prefix that identifies the numbering agency, a company prefix, an item reference and a final check digit. In North America the same symbol is used as UPC-A with a leading 0 added, so tills read both.

The symbol is 95 modules wide and needs a blank quiet zone on each side. The left six digits use a parity pattern that also encodes the first digit, which is why that digit is printed outside the bars. At 100 % magnification the nominal size is about 37.3 × 25.9 mm, and retailers generally accept 80 % to 200 %.

This tool draws the barcode; it does not assign numbers. Official GTINs are issued through GS1 in your country. Inventing digits for products sold in shops can collide with another company's product, so keep made-up numbers for internal, test or in-house use.
