How does it work?

What is Phone Number QR Code?

The code stores a tel: link (RFC 3966), for example tel:+33142685300. When a phone scans it, the camera app offers to call that number and normally asks for confirmation before dialling. Spaces and dashes are not needed: a clean international number works on every network and country.

Because a phone number is very short, this is one of the least dense QR codes you can make. It stays reliable even at small print sizes. If you also want the person to save your name, email and address, a contact-card code is the better choice, since a tel: link only carries the number.

When should you use it?

  • Printing a call-us code on a shop window, van or delivery vehicle.
  • Adding a code to a lost-pet tag or luggage label so a finder can call you at once.
  • Giving a help-desk or reception number on posters, kiosks and equipment.
  • Offering a quick call option on flyers, real-estate signs and business cards.

Does scanning place the call automatically?

No. Phones show the number and ask the person to confirm the call, so nothing is dialled without a tap.

How should I write the number?

Use the international format: a plus sign, the country code, then the number without the leading zero, for example +212 then the local digits. A number without a country code fails for callers abroad.

Can I add an extension?

This tool encodes a plain phone number. If you rely on an extension, use a direct line or an automated switchboard menu instead.

Will it work on a tablet or computer?

Devices with no calling capability may only display the number or offer a video-call app. The code is meant mainly for smartphones.
